This is an annual professional learning opportunity to improve your conducting for the coming concert and festival season. Suitable for study of Level 2 to 4 concert band works. This program is one of two offered by The Grainger Wind Symphony in partnership with the Australian Band and Orchestra Directors Association Victoria Branch.


1. Conducting Intensive Program

This program is made up of classes and podium time in a video workshop conducting the GWS. 

Dates: 

  • Classes Saturday 10am – 12noon 27 May, 3 June, 10 June, Sunday 10am 18 June, Saturday 1 July (review after the video workshop) in Mont Albert.
  • Video Workshop (compulsory) Wednesday 21 June 7.30pm to 10.15pm in Blackburn podium time conducting The Grainger Wind Symphony. 

Clinician: Roland Yeung music director and principal conductor of GWS (click here) 

Work to be conducted: you choose a concert band work (or excerpt) and supply a set of parts and extra score (if it is not in the GWS library)
This program provides lead up group classes and focuses on shaping gestures required to interpret a score, that is optimising non-verbal communication. 

Closing date: Monday 22 May.
