The Bach Competition is open to soloists who are 17 years of age and under (at 1 January 2016) on any instrument. 

A minimum performance level of AMEB Grade 5 or equivalent is expected.  Students from rural or regional Victoria are eligible for the Newsboys Foundation Regional Music Award.

Entrants will compete for the Richard Mills Prize of $2000, Australian Bach Society Prize of $1500, two Encouragement Prizes of $1000 and Newsboys Foundation Regional Music Award which includes travel, accommodation, specialist tuition, concert tickets and mentoring opportunities.

Competition repertoire will consist of any works of J.S. Bach not exceeding 10 minutes in total duration.  The Competition Final will be held at Melbourne Recital Centre on Sunday 26 June 2016.
